Biographical Sketch
Craig was born (1955) and raised in Toronto, Canada.
He has a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Chemical Engineering (University of Toronto, 1977), a Diploma in Professional Studies in Education (University of Bradford, UK, 1994), and an Executive MBA (Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, 2003).
His early work career included periods with railway, oil refining, mining, and insurance companies.
Craig has been engaged in a professional and business capacity in Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, Europe, and Africa for five decades. He was a teacher, headmaster and examination officer for the University of Cambridge in the largest national private school system in Pakistan (Beaconhouse School System, Northern Region, Margalla Branch, 1990 – 1996).
In 1998, Craig co-founded Ibex International Associates, a private investment fund that provides investment capital, facilitates the deployment of entrepreneurs and business professionals, and provides mentoring, coaching, and consulting services to small and medium size companies (SMEs) across North Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
Craig served as CEO of Ibex from 2001 – 2021 and as Portfolio Manager from 2021 until June 2024. He has overseen the investment of USD $20m in 70 SMEs in a dozen industry sectors in 26 countries across North Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
Craig has served on a number of international not-for-profit and for-profit boards, including a satellite television media organization (North Africa and the Middle East), a maternal mortality reduction program in East Africa), a civil engineering company (Pakistan), a commercial goat dairy (India), a manufacturing enterprise (Bangladesh) and a geo-tourism resort (Indonesia).
He has led in an executive and consulting capacity to a number of global organizations engaged in professional, humanitarian, and business enterprise in the developing world.
Craig and his wife Krista have launched a new business, The Preeminence Project, to strengthen the global BAM ecosystem by providing advisory services to clients serving North Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
Craig and Krista presently make their home in Toronto. They are parents of four daughters and grandparents of six.
